THOMAS MCKAY

RA AIA

FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT

McKay received his BFA/ B.A. degree at Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 and a Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in 1993. He is a registered architect in the State of New York, New Jersey and Florida. He has been an AIA member since 1998. In the period from 1987-1993 he worked in Milano, completing commercial projects in Europe and Japan including the Centro Commerciale for Seregno, Italy. In 1994 as a Founder of MSM Architects, he worked extensively with and designed for European, Asian, and South American companies.

In January 2003 he formed McKay Architecture/Design. McKay has been a lead member and investor in a series of residential and mixed-use development teams domestically and internationally. McKay taught Design at Parsons School of Design from 1999-2014 and he has lectured on MA/D’s approach towards design and realization of contemporary projects. In 2013 he formed and is managing partner of Aerea Properties LLC, a New York Development company.

Some past and present clients include IDEO, Ian Schrager Company, Hugo Boss, David Yurman, Crunch Fitness, Versace, USM Modular Furniture, Monsieur Touton, Centrum properties, and Savitt Partners. We believe our strength can be seen in the enduring relationship we have formed with clients, builders and other design professionals.

OUR TEAM

Spatial and organizational study guides our team in the exploration of possibilities for each project with its’ own unique program and set of environmental relationships. These dialogues help us make alterations to the pre-conceived and redefine intentions during the design process.

CHRISTOPHER MUSTAFA KIRWAN

PRINCIPAL OF URBAN PLANNING

Christopher is a multi-disciplinary professional and educator with over 30-years of experience across a range of design fields including urban planning, architecture, technology and new media with a specialty in the branding and marketing of Real Estate projects. He received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree (BARCH) from Rhode IslandSchool of Design and attended graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Center for Advanced Visual Studies.

During his career, Christopher has worked around the world including Milan, New York, London, Dubai, Seoul, Beijing and Bangkok. As part of his extensive professional experience Mustafa was Director of Global Branding forthe Reignwood Group in Beijing China from 2009-2015, responsible for the planning, design and marketing of Reignwood Group’s property & lifestyle portfolio including Reignwood’s Ten Trinity Square project in London and Reignwood’s Eco-resort in Dali, Yunnan Province China.

LOVINA VASUDEVA

HEAD OF DESIGN

Lovina is distinguished for her skillful leadership in guiding the development of expansive residential and commercial projects. Her approach is characterized by a seamless integration of innovative design, spatial efficiency, and environmental awareness. Lovina earned her degree in Architectural Design from Parsons School of Design and further enhanced her expertise as an Interior Designer at RH, where she developed a deep appreciation for design theory and materiality.

Her portfolio highlights notable projects in New York City, such as The Vasper—a Modern American restaurant as well as a corporate enclave for the renowned Wine Importer, Monsieur Touton. Currently, Lovina is spearheading residential endeavors in prominent locales such as the Hamptons, Sag Harbor, and a Supper Club project in the Meatpacking District.
